You (sold)

You,
In a few days they will return and come through the gates of the school, andthey will have in their hearts thoughts of what was in freedom, but especially of what will be next.
… and there will be those whose body movement will be relaxed, and they will meet the friends with hugs and extroverted loudness, and there will be those who will walk with sturdy and upright shoulders, because in general everything is easy for them. There will be those who will return with a demonstrated lack of desire, because in their perception the school is an unnecessary framework …, and between these three groups are those students who will come to the school that no one will see and no one will pay attention to. Their steps will be silent and their gaze will usually be tilted down, but from time to time they will look up and look for someone to see them. They will look for a friend for a mutual look, someone who will notice their presence, their being.
And they will enter the classroom and look for a place to sit, a table with a chair that will be for them an island of escape.
And you …, you will once again be flooded with a memory of yourself, how you were students-children-teenagers, and remember that when you chose to be educators and teachers you chose to see them, all of them(!) To see the hidden ones, the social contenders, to contain their difficulty and encourage.
Be compassionate for the sensitive heart, lead it to find a friend, instruct and guide how, and most importantly: give it a chance to meet itself down the road. Teach them to believe that anything is possible for them right now, even if the possible seems at the moment impossible.

This piece was commissioned for a school principal, who this year left her role behind and embarked on a new path. The staff wants to thank her for the milestones she had set for the school staff, but first and foremost for her ability to stand at the top of the pyramid and always see that child standing at the end of the line, and to send him a look over all the other students’ heads.
